Herning, Alberslund and Århus are highlighted as leading examples of energy sustainable centres

The climate and energy minister, Connie Hedegaard, has pinpointed three new Energy Towns which will lead the way when it comes to sustainable energy saving initiatives.

Albertslund, Herning and Århus join the original three towns of Kolding, Copenhagen and Skive as official Energy Towns appointed by the Climate Ministry.

Århus Council’s systematic plan to be carbon dioxide neutral by 2030 helped it secure its new title, while Albertslund has exciting initiatives to save energy within the town’s existing housing stock.
‘It’s important that the experience and good examples of the Energy Towns are passed on, so that other local councils can be inspired to act,’ said Hedegaard.
